Robot Bastard!
I wanted it to be old/new looking, a low tech version of a high tech thing.
Rob Schrab (si pronuncia “SHROB”, urla la wiki) è un fumettista, attore, sceneggiatore e produttore cinematografico e televisivo, nato e cresciuto a Mayville, un piccolo paese di quattromila e rotte anime nel Winsconsin le cui uniche note di (de)merito paiono l’essere stato l’ispirazione per l’ambientazione di Monster House, film d’animazione del 2006 prodotto dal duo Zemeckis-Spielberg, e l’avere una bed race annuale. Sì, esatto.
Attorno alla metà degli anni novanta, Rob si fa notare per Scud: The Disposable Assassin, serie a fumetti surreale e frenetica che ha per protagonista un robot assassino arruolabile direttamente tramite un distributore automatico. Il successo fu tale che nel 1997 ispirò due videogiochi, uno per Sega Saturn e uno per MS Windows.
Ma è nel 2002 che tocca l’apice creativo dirigendo e sceneggiando Robot Bastard!, un mix surreale di elementi fantascientifici, stop motion, chiptune, esplosioni e green screen.
Special agent Robot Bastard is sent into space to rescue the President’s daughter Catherine from the clutches of a sinister kidnapper, but it isn’t as simple a mission as he planned.
