Audio Output: Uses AV Multi Out connector. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI.
Storage: The console will have internal flash memory, as well as the option to expand its memory using either an SD memory card or an external USB hard disk drive.
CPU: IBM Power®-based multi-core microprocessor.
Other: Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. The new console is backward compatible with Wii games and Wii accessories.

Nintendo ha presentato, durante la conferenza all’E3, la nuova home console, chiamata con il nome di [b]Wii U[/b]. In realtà, più che la console, hanno mostrato il nuovo controller e le sue capacità, che andrà ad aggiungersi ai “vecchi” WiiMote e classic controller: come si legge ne quote sopra, la caratteristica principale sarà l’implementazione di uno schermo touch screen da 6.2 pollici, che servirà a portare il gioco oltre lo schermo della tv (citando Reggie-Fils Aime e Miyamoto), sfruttandolo ad esempio a mo di menù, come schermo per alcuni mini-giochi, per visualizzare il browser internet e l’interessante caratteristica che permette di trasportare il gioco attualmente sulla tv nello schermo del controller.
Personalmente ho ancora alcuni dubbi riguardo la console, che spero si risolvano il prima possibile. Qua sotto inoltre le immagini della console (ma credo sia sempre un “concept” e del controller).
