Nella primavera 2005 il National Geographic assegna un compito particolare al fotografo James Balog: andare in Islanda e documentare i cambiamenti climatici in atto sul pianeta, in particolare lo scioglimento dei ghiacci.

James Balog, inizialmente scettico sulla questione “scioglimento ghiacci”, rimane così impressionato da quanto visto nel suo primo viaggio in Islanda che decide di creare una nuova organizzazione, la Extreme Ice Survey: compito principale? installare camere sui ghiacciai artici per riprendere time-lapse di quanto e come stanno cambiando.
Uno sforzo biblico che è appunto raccontato da [i]Chasing Ice[/i]. Acclamato da pubblico e critica, questo documentario pare essere molto bello.
