PROTECT-IP: La legge americana che farà finire internet?
Cos’è la PROTECT-IP
PROTECT-IP è una legge che è stata presentata al Senato e Camera del governo americano e sta per essere approvata al Congresso.
PROTECT-IP da al governo e le corporation americane la possibilità di oscurare dei siti internet nel nome della protezione della “creatività”. La legge consente infatti il blocco di interi siti internet da parte del governo o di singole società se convincono un giudice che il suddetto sito è “dedito alla violazione del copyright”.
Con questa legge condividere un video con qualunque cosa coperta da copyright al suo interno, in pratica quello che fanno Youtube o Twitter per intenderci, verrà considerato un comportamento illegale punibile con la reclusione fino a 5 anni e la chiusura immediata del sito.
E’ in atto una protesta fortissima negli Stati Uniti contro la PROTECT-IP, appggiata da tutti i più grandi siti e blog. Il tutto parte da questo sito:
Si ritiene, secondo me a ragione, che se questo tipo di legge verrà approvata ed applicata negli Stati Uniti, costituirà un precedente fondamentale che farà da fondamenta alla creazione di leggi simili nel resto del mondo, gettando le basi ad una nuova regolamentazione mondiale di internet incentrata sulla protezione del diritto d’autore e quindi della censura in suo nome.

You claim that the bill is being passed to prevent online piracy, but anyone with eyes and ears can tell that this is false. Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas.) we know that you don’t like us, and that’s acceptable to Anonymous. We don’t like you either. This bill will make it unlawful to post copy righted data Such as tips and walk throughs in games, and sports highlights. More importantly, it will allow social media sites to remove re-posted videos and data from the internet. This, however, is unacceptable to Anonymous. The American Government supports the fight for democracy and Freedom of information in other countries, but when it comes to their own land they attempt to demolish it with brute force and censorship. The one thing they are yet to understand is that you can’t arrest an idea. You can’t kill an idea, and you can’t stop an idea. Every act of violence against the protesters across the globe simply fuels the fire. You do not understand that for each of us that falls, ten more will take his place. You do not understand that corporate media has been forced to show the events happening around America and across the globe. You do not understand that ideals, people, countries, beliefs and religions will fade, but the internet will remain. To pass this bill will cause public outcry, which will greatly improve our movement. We, Anonymous, know that this is a hidden campaign to destroy the ability of people across the world to connect and share their experiences with one another. To the American Congress:If you pass this bill, you will pay for it.

Lo scorso 16 novembre si è tenuto l’American Censorship Day, mezza internet si è mobilitata, ma è solo l’inizio.
E’ inutile dire che Lega Nerd appoggia le iniziative di FightForTheFuture.org, augurandoci che PROTECT-IP non venga definitivamente approvata e che tutte le leggi che consentono una qualunque forma di censura di internet decadano o non vengano mai più presentate a livello mondiale.
Speranza ingenua e forse utopistica, ma sperare non costa niente. Per tutto il resto c’è Anonymous.
