Facebook Phone
Uno smartphone targato Facebook. È il progetto segreto cui starebbe lavorando nel quartier generale del socialnetwork. A rivelarlo è stato il blog specializzato Techcrunch, che già aveva anticipato l’uscita di Nexus One, il “googlefonino”. E sarebbe stato proprio il lancio di Nexus One a spingere Mark Zuckerberg, il fondatore di Facebook, a rompere gli indugi e a buttarsi nella mischia del mercato degli smartphone…
Non ci sono ancora dettagli sulla data di uscita né sulle specifiche tecniche del prodotto ma a quanto sembra il Facephone, per logica, dovrebbe sostituire la classica rubrica di numeri con i propri contatti “sociali”. La cosa su cui però il team di Zuckerberg starebbe puntando è produrre un smartphone low cost, vendibile intorno ai 50/70 euro così da attirare in particolar modo la fascia teenagers.
La pronta smentita (almeno parziale) da parte di Facebook non si é fatta attendere molto:
“The story, which originated in Techcrunch, is not accurate. Facebook is not building a phone. Our approach has always been to make phones and apps more social. Current projects include include everything from an HTML5 version of the site to apps on major platforms to full Connect support with SDKs to deeper integrations with some manufacturers. Our view is that almost all experiences would be better if they were social, so integrating deeply into existing platforms and operating systems is a good way to enable this. For an example, check out Connect for iPhone and the integration we have with contact syncing through our iPhone app. Another example is the INQ1 phone with Facebook integration (the first so-called ‘Facebook Phone’). The people mentioned in the story are working on these projects. The bottom line is that whenever we work on a deep integration, people want to call it a ‘Facebook Phone’ because that’s such an attractive soundbite, but building phones is just not what we do.”
Ora non ci resta che aspettare “molto interessati” e vedere se questo Facephone verrà effettivamente prodotto oppure no.

Facebook wasted no time today shooting the idea down: “The story, which originated in Techcrunch, is not accurate,” a spokesperson told Mashable. “Facebook is not building a phone.” The company told the publication that it’s focusing on “deep integration” with existing mobile platforms, but that “building phones is just not what we do.”
